RAM: A New Minivan in the Works

When people think of RAM, the first thing that comes to mind is the full-size 1500 pickup truck. However, the brand also offers vans and minivans designed specifically for commercial applications, such as the Promaster and the Promaster City. Unfortunately, the latter is no longer part of the brand’s lineup, leaving only the larger model, which clearly does not meet the needs of all buyers.

It turns out that RAM is fully aware of the gap left by the departure of the Promaster City and intends to fill it. Tim Kuniskis, the current president of the brand, recently stated that he would love to offer a passenger minivan. In fact, he is interested in reviving the legendary Dodge Grand Caravan under the RAM brand. Since transitioning to Chrysler’s lineup, the model has not achieved the expected success.

A Logical Move

Dodge is now the performance division of the brand. Jeep focuses on off-road driving and luxury. Chrysler emphasizes luxury and modernity. RAM has always been the brand dedicated to utility. Therefore, it would make perfect sense for a minivan to be part of RAM’s lineup. The irony in all of this is that the brand has already offered a cargo version of the Dodge Grand Caravan in the past. However, this time, the idea would be to introduce a family-oriented minivan.

The Grand Caravan was long one of Dodge’s most popular models. The idea of once again offering a more affordable yet highly versatile minivan under RAM is far from as far-fetched as it might seem.

A Breath of Fresh Air

The departure of Carlos Tavares from the head of Stellantis has allowed the group to finally open its eyes. He was solely focused on electric vehicles. However, since his departure, there has been much discussion about the strong comeback of the Hemi engine, the return of high-performance models, and the introduction of more affordable vehicles. The fact is that RAM, Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler no longer offer vehicles that are accessible to everyone. In my opinion, RAM would hit a home run by adding a family minivan to its lineup, especially if it is affordable for all budgets.
